Stamps of the United Kingdom hold a special place in the vast universe of stamp collecting. The world's first postage stamps were used in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1840. Interestingly, the country's name was never printed on the first stamps, since they were the only ones producing them. To this day, the United Kingdom is the only country that does not have it's name printed on their stamps.
